Thank you for choosing The Bear, your friendly neighbourhood gastro pub in the heart of Tattenhall, Cheshire. These Terms of Business outline our policies and procedures to ensure you have the best possible experience with us. By making a reservation or visiting our establishment, you agree to these terms.
Reservations
Booking Policy
- We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak times and weekends
- Reservations can be made by telephone, online, or in person
- We’ll do our best to accommodate walk-ins, but tables cannot be guaranteed without a reservation
- Large group bookings (8+ people) require advance notice and may need a deposit
Table Allocation
- We reserve tables for 2 hours during busy periods
- If you’re running late, please call us – we’ll hold your table for up to 15 minutes past your reservation time
- We may need to reallocate tables to accommodate all guests comfortably
Special Requirements
- Please inform us of any dietary requirements or accessibility needs when booking
- We’ll make every effort to accommodate special requests, though some may require advance notice
- Guide dogs and assistance dogs are always welcome
Cancellations and No-Shows
Cancellation Policy
- Please give us at least 2 hours’ notice for cancellations when possible
- For group bookings of 8 or more, we require 24 hours’ notice
- No-shows without notice may result in a charge for pre-ordered items
Deposits
- Some bookings may require a deposit, particularly for large groups or special events
- Deposits are fully refundable with appropriate notice
- Deposits will be forfeited for no-shows or late cancellations without reasonable notice
Payment and Pricing
Payment Methods
- We accept cash, all major credit and debit cards, and contactless payments
- Card payments under £100 may not require a PIN
- We cannot accept cheques
Pricing
- All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable
- Menu prices may change without notice, though this won’t affect orders already placed
- Group service charges may apply to parties of 8 or more – this will be clearly indicated
Billing
- Separate bills can be arranged for groups, but please let us know when ordering
- We cannot guarantee the ability to split bills after the meal has concluded
Food and Beverage Service
Quality and Preparation
- All food is prepared fresh using quality ingredients
- Cooking times may vary depending on your order and how busy we are
- If you’re not satisfied with your meal, please let us know immediately so we can address any concerns
Dietary Requirements

- We support responsible drinking and may refuse service to intoxicated customers

- Offensive, abusive, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated

- Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building
- External smoking areas are provided where applicable

- We accept responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- We’re liable for loss or damage caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the reasonable cost of re-supply or refund of the services
Customer Property
- We cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property
- Please keep valuables secure and don’t leave items unattended
- Any lost property will be kept for 30 days before disposal
